NANSANA XAVERIAN MOVEMENT.

 

The Xaverian Movement for the children and young people together with their adult animators guided by chaplains in the catholic church, it is a voluntary ,educational, charitable lay children’s and youths’ movement in the catholic church which wishes to contribute to the local and universal mission of the church was founded on 7th September 1952 On the continent of Africa  at  Bukavu  in the present Democratic  Republic of  Congo (Zaire) by Fr George Defour and Augustine Zagabe.

Francis Xavier was a Graet Apostolic zeal and charity among the children, youth and

the poor in Asia helped those who do not know God by evangelizing them. In this way they decided to choose him as their patron saint. Then the movement took the name of Xaveri-Xaverians.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            XAVERI: In Uganda at the in visitation of his Lord ship Bishop Ogez, the then Bishop of Mbarara Diocese, it was than introduced through Kabale in 1970, Mbarara, Hoima ,Fort-portal, Kasese. In Masaka by Fr. Pellietier  at kalungu parish by 1976 some seminarians from Katigondo to Ggaba National  major seminary spread it in  Kampala  Archdiocese and  to other  dioceses  of Uganda.
